green (532 nm) beam is much clearer to the human eye and appears
30~50 X brighter than red laser pointers with similar output
power.
The dot is visible over far greater distances even in
bright light.
At night the beam itself
(and not
the dot alone) is visible in mid-air for over a mile and
can therefore be used to point out stars, align telescopes, or
project onto low clouds.
