Technika stocks the complete
Sper Scientific SAMA
range of thermometers. The selection is extensive, so we offer the following guide to help
you choose the best thermometer for a particular application:
Red Liquid or Mercury
Red liquid is best for most applications since it is safer, easier to read and less
expensive. Use mercury for temperatures above 150°C, or when especially high accuracy is
required.
Partial or Total Immersion
Partial immersion is best for most applications. These thermometers are calibrated to read
correctly when only 3" of the stem is immersed in the liquid being measured. Total
immersion thermometers are calibrated for use when the entire liquid column is totally
immersed in the substance being measured and should be used only under those
circumstances.
Yellow or White Back
This depends only on which color the user feels contrasts best against the mercury column.
Red liquid thermometers are all white back.
Fractional Degree
When you need to measure changes in temperature of less than 1°.
NIST-Traceable Thermometers
For precise temperature measurements and as standards to check or calibrate other
thermometers in the lab.
High-Quality Construction
All of our thermometers are made to SAMA specifications for ranges and accuracy. In
addition our thermometers have a number of extra quality features built in:
Mercury Expansion Chambers
Reinforced Bulbs, to prevent breakage
Horizontally Printed Scales, easier to read in use
Ring Tops, for submersion
Non Roll Caps
Scales Printed Into the Glass, rather than on the surface so
they never wear off
